ASIA X-C Refresher &
Certification
January 23-24, 2010
We're really excited to be able to offer an
outstanding opportunity to refresh or learn to teach those X-C skills. Responding to the
numerous requests over the past few years we have put together a great
weekend at an outstanding X-C ski area - Mountain Meadows X-C Center, located in
Killington, VT. Mt. Meadows has been recognized by
numerous awards, not the least of which is being listed in Snow
Country's top 10 X-C resorts in New England.
So if you'd like to refresh your X-C skiing and teaching skills, or you are
an experienced X-C skier and would like to become an ASIA Certified X-C
Instructor, come join us. You'll not only learn to teach beginners, but you will
vastly improve your skiing skills and technical understanding of the
sport. If you're just looking to meet other folks who love to ski and
want a great weekend experience, join ASIA and come ski with us.
Clinic Offerings
This is not a learn to ski program. You should be an experienced X-C skier
to participate. Those who attend will be spending time enjoying the
winter playground at the base of Killington with top PSIA coaches who
will guide and coach the groups. ASIA members and Certified instructors
who would like to brush up their teaching and skiing skills sign up for
the X-C Refresher clinic. Folks who would
like to become Certified sign up for the X-C Certification clinic.
The certification will require purchase of some educational materials
(to be announced) and involve a skiing, demonstration, and teaching
skills evaluation on the second day of the program.
Both groups will spend two days honing their skiing skills and
refreshing or learning their teaching and demo skills, and everyone will
have a fun weekend on the snow. Depending on interest (and energy left)
we may have the opportunity for a 'group feed' afterwards.
Snowmaking Galore
We've chosen Mountain Meadows for their reputation for great terrain.
The area is known for a snowmaking system like no other cross country
resort in the Northeast. It boasts great conditions when other areas are
closed. That's why their trails are the choice for training by the
USA Ski Team members, as well as teams at the University of Vermont,
Dartmouth College, Middlebury College, and all of the local schools.
According to their website at http://www.xcskiing.net,
"Snowmaking is the most important element at Mountain Meadows. When
we finish making snow for the season the trail system has a base of 3-6
feet of snow and covers 3 kilometers. No other privately owned cross
country area makes as much snow as we do on a trail as long."

We'll offer two days of X-C ski instruction by top PSIA pros for only $110.00.
Lift tickets are additional and purchased by cash or check at the time of sign
in on the program date.
Signup Deadline is January 8, 2010.
All applications must be received in the
ASIA office by January 8, 2010. Please note: Classes
may fill before the cutoff date, so be sure to sign up early for great
fun and learning. We must have a minimum of 6 signups to make the
program a go. To sign up, fill out the Program
application, write in your clinic choice, and sign the release. Mail the
application with your payment of $110.00 to:

To become a member of ASIA, fill out the Membership
application, and mail it with your dues check of $25.00 made payable
to ASIA to the ASIA office.
